Greenpeace names new comms director
Greenpeace: against deforestation
Kate Magee 03-Nov-08
Greenpeace has raided its Chinese office to fill its top comms role.
Tamara Spark starts on 10 November as director of comms. She previously headed up its forests campaign in China and has worked at the NGO for the last 15 years. Prior to this she worked as a journalist.
She replaces Ben Stewart, who reverts back to his old title of head of media. Stewart, who spoke to PRWeek from an island off the shore of Kingsnorth power station, called it 'a welcome demotion'.
Last month, Stewart was cleared of causing £30,000 of criminal damage to Kingsnorth power station, when he and five others scaled the chimney and painted 'Gordon Bin It' down the side.
The group received mass coverage last week after its high profile protest ship the Rainbow Warrier sailed to Kingsnorth in protest against a new coal-fired power station being built at the site.
